american political party

One more day of work and then 3 DAY WEEKEND My sister and her boyfriend are back from Serbia, so my mom has a "Great American Meal" planned for Saturday. Iapos;m pretty sure Bran has had mashed potatoes and baked chicken before, but itapos;s cute of my mom to plan everything. Iapos;m supposed to bring the snacks for later in the evening...suggestions?

On a completely different note, I came across this video last week and it amuses me every time I watch it. Iapos;m not a Britney fan, but the timing of the music and dance moves works really well in this one:

Even though it sucked that Shelby wasn't at Bouchercon and he is probably sick of us calling him suckage for skipping out, we have yet another day of what he missed. Specifically:

Getting Crabs - yeah, yeah, I know the best crabcakes in the entire eastern seaboard are found in Baltimore, I've heard they have all sorts of rivalry and contests to determine the best fishy goodness...which is great for those who like seafood. So you missed politely turning down a billion people inviting you out for "the best messy lumps of shredded fish in the universe at this little dive NO ONE knows about" and the obligatory "I Got Crabs in Baltimore" T-shirt.

The "I'd rather sleep with Ghandi than___" conversation in the bar. Which started out as a dare after one nameless annoying author swept through the area and we all determined who'd we rather sleep with than that person. I spewed my beer when names like James Carville, Jerry Lewis, Dick Cheney, and Margaret Thatcher popped up as answers (For those who haven't played, come on - it's fun...well, maybe not when you're sober)...I still can't get the image of Reed Coleman and his secret pick out of my head.

The Third Annual "We're So Glad Trey Barker Isn't Dead from Cancer" memorial shot. Last time it was Jack Daniels. This time it was tequila. I'm happy Trey is still with us, but Sean Doolittle and Trey and I were surprised the shotglasses were lowball glasses again, and we almost had a barfing story to rival Alison's.

Some Union Workers Who Were Picketing/Harassing Sheraton Customers all day/every day - Big mistake to approach gun guy Fred Rea...but damn, he was only half-snarly.

Sitting Next To Jim Born At The Booksigning: He had fans in his line. Before he showed up. Bastard. But I got him. I licked all the pens before he got there and started signing.
